Attendance

Please note school starts promptly at 9.00am. The school gates and classrooms will be open from 8.45am for a staggered start and extra enjoyment for reading time!

Parents/Carers are responsible for informing the school by 9.30am if a child is to be absent due to illness or a medical appointment.

On return a letter should be provided stating the reason for the absence.

Please see the school’s Attendance Policy for further details.

Leave of Absence in Exceptional Circumstances

Please fill out Application for Pupil Leave of Absence in Exceptional Circumstances during Term Time and send or bring to the school office.

Illness

In the event of your child being unable to attend school because they are unwell please call the school office before 9.30am.

If your child has vomited or has diarrhoea they should not attend school until 48 hours from the last episode of vomiting/diarrhoea.

The school follows the Public Health Agency guidance on preventing infection. The following document gives more information about whether you need to keep your child away from school if they have an illness or infection: PHE Guidance on infection control in schools and other childcare settings.

Children who are taken ill during the day are looked after by first aid staff and if very unwell the parents or carer will be asked to take them home. Should children be unwell before school or the night before it is unwise to bring them to school as this can result in the spread of infection.

We operate on the principle that children who attend school are well enough to participate in all school activities including swimming, PE and playtime sessions.
